Amazon Life x Po-Zu (2009 Autumn / Winter)
Po-Zu and Brazilian brand Amazon Life have collaborated to develop the WELLBOOT, which resembles a traditional wellington boot for its waterproof qualities, but is made entirely from pure and natural materials.
The beauty of this collaboration lies in the material of the upper which is a biodegradable ‘wild rubber’, made from the Amazonian Seringueira rubber tree. The Kayapo Indians rubber tapers, who live and work deep in the Amazon rainforest, extract the latex by hand, and spread it onto an Organic Cotton canvas to undergo a long natural curing process.
This is an important sustainable product that not only supports biodiversity conservation, but helps protect the Amazonian rainforest from deforestation.
