It’s such a joy to shoot with a high-energy team that feels like family. Models, Alex and Christian, two of my favourite models, joined stylist Andie Redman and film maker Chris Nicholson Price - all friends for years since shooting for People Tree – Sven, Chris and I photographed and filmed the new Po-Zu collection.
Like an earthworm…
Footwear marketing gets you crawling on the floor. Unlike photographing clothing, your angle changes. I love this new perspective. Although my organic clothes get filthy more quickly as I clean the studio floor with my body. I feel like an earth worm (and as many of you know, as an advocate for organic cotton, I am a great fan of earth worms!) I digress.. It is fun shooting Po-Zu shoes and thinking about the Portuguese craftsmen and women I saw making them just weeks before and the care that has gone into every material and stitch.
It’s great working with Sven, the Founder at Po-Zu, he’s very creative and a real social entrepreneur with a razor sharp eye for detail and I know how thrilling it is to see the products that you designed and then photograph them. This collection he developed a new cup sole made out of natural rubber, sustainable materials such as Pinatex, Cork and organic cotton into the Ello, a feminine range of Audrey Hepburn style pumps for women and the cool Sneak for men. I get the impression that AS he is shooting he is designing the next, next, next collection. For me, with our lovely new marketing exec Kate; Chris and Andie, we are excited to shoot using clothing from other ethical fashion brands like: Maharishi, People Tree, Thought, Hiut Denim and Monkee Jeans and bring the shoes to life for you.
