Earlier this week, we threw a crowdfunding party at the cosy Impact Hub Islington in London. This was a great opportunity for us to meet those of you interested in joining the #Po-ZuCrowd and for you to get to know a little more about the business.
Guests cheerfully chatted over drinks and nibbles as we celebrated the launch of our crowdfunding campaign and the progress made so far. A little soul music helped set a warm tone for the evening. Our campaign was only launched five days prior and at the time of the event, we had already reached more than a third of our target, with many thanks to 39 lovely investors!
Our guest speaker delighted the crowd, Mark Shayler, a leading expert on sustainable design who happened to be wearing a pair of our Wrap boots so was able to offer some very kind words on his own pleasurable Po-Zu experience. Mark referred to his love for music by comparing The Rolling Stones to DM boots – the link being longevity. He continued with the modularity of Po-Zu shoes and how careful considerations have gone into what happens after the useful life of each shoe - much like One Direction and their ability to remain successful, even after losing a band member.
This was followed by a few words from Sven who took us on a journey of the brand’s history and Phil Harvey, Head of Marketing, who got down to the nitty gritty financial details before discussions ended in a healthy number of questions from curious soon-to-be-investors!
As well as the music, the space was filled with our soleful soles for people to try on – including a sneak peak of the upcoming Spring Summer 2016 range of heels! Guests were also able to sample our Edible Shoe Cream. We’d brought along shoe brushes as well as a platter of oat crackers with a butter knife for people to experience its versatile uses!
Overall, it was a successful evening and we have enjoyed watching the resulting progress over on the Crowdcube platform. It was also a special honour to have Carl Honoré support our slow fashion shoe movement. Many thanks go to the Impact Hub Islington team for being such fantastic hosts, the kind soles who helped us carry down our boxes from the 4th floor, and to Rude Health and BEAR for their yummy contributions.
